The Wii has taken control of the Smith household! Wii tends to want to rule our lives. I need to develop a policy but I am not sure what would be good.
Do you let your kids play Wii every day, if they are done their chores for the day then they can play, in the morning before school if they are totally ready, only once a week, never? Since I know everyone reads my blog I do not doubt I will have several ideas or suggestions. Hurry before Wii takes over the Mommy -- I must say I do like Mario Kart!

I think you have to find what works for you as a busy mom.
My kids are out of control with the wii. My boys turn into wii monsters when it is time to turn it off.
They play only on weekends...but I am a little too nice on how long they play on weekends.
My kids complain because most of their friends play when things are done after school but maybe their friends don't turn into video game monsters either.
Good luck! The first couple weeks of new rules will be torture.
The kids get to play almost every day. The rules are school must be done first. We are usually done by 1pm. Then each day alternates who gets first pick. (I only have 2 kids!) First pick is either Wii or the faster computer. Then I decide how much time the person gets, sometimes 30 minutes, 45 minutes and when the timer rings the second child can use the Wii. Once in awhile they play forever especially if I am busy and do not want to be interrupted! Can 2 kids play at a time or is that too much drama? Maybe a schedule that a child can only play 3 times a week after homework is done? It definitely is addictive!
I usually let the kids play when they have everything else done. Like when they get up early if they are dressed, breakfast eaten, and all reading done then they can play. And I usually let Gabe play after school until around 4ish to wind down a bit then we start on homework or other things. But if there is fighting I now will warn them and if they still fight I go and unplug it and take the wii into my room for the rest of the day. That has helped things a bit. Jude will even play mario with gabe and gabe is much more patient. The wii is a total love/hate relationship here too.
Sam and I got the Wii for date nights since we don't actually leave the house for date night much anymore, but our kids are really to young to ask to play and when it is out during the day they really don't pay much attention to it, so am I much help? NO, but our rules will be pretty strict with video games once they get older. We want it to be a family activity. Time where we can all be together and have fun!
I agree whatever works best for you as long as you trying to set some limits and give them a good balance in life...which I Know you are girl! So pat yourself on the back & feel relieved. That being said mine are being cut back starting next week :-)
I think we may have played Wii too much. Our charger died today. The kids may have to go a few days without the Wii. I wonder if they will survive....
we have an xbox360, not a wii, but we let them play it whenever they want; if they don't seem to want to go outside after a while, i might say, 'go outside or do something else for a while'. i can always distract them with another activity, like play dough, though, if i don't want to make it a battle.
